Without The Human Race

Rating: 5.0

The world began without the human race,
and will end without it.
Will it ever get beyond first base?
Like Lévi-Strauss, I doubt it.

Inspired by a line from “Tristes Tropiques, ” by Claude Lévi-Strauss whom J.M.G. Le Clézio described in the NYT on November 8 as “probably the last French Philosopher”: “The world began without the human race and will certainly end without it.”
