Witness Poem by Robert Sheridan

Witness

Personal presence,
Or a perception of
what is and what
isn’t;
Bear witness, or
afford evidence –
cement shoes,
stool pigeon;
Attest to what
takes place, or
affirm one’s
false faith;
Document for
purpose, take
note – observe
Sit there and
wait for the
phone to ring –
call never comes;
Don’t be a witness
may be the end of
the line...
