Wondering Poem by Warren Augustus de Guzman

Wondering

Rating: 5.0

Wondering what you might think
I sit and ponder with this drink
That might be too strong for my own good
Be that as it may, it is, as it should
And with this drink I find power to write
Poetry, prose of wonder or spite
Just to appease to he who might bite
On what I have to say tonight
I open the shutters and find it is day
And I have spent twelve hours wasting away
In front of this screen with nothing to say
Nothing to say and nothing to write
To appease to he who just might bite
On what I have to say today
I struggle with what I want to say
Wondering if it will make any sense
I read to the others and speak with their tense
And flirt with their rhyme
And jive with their rhythm
And turn green with envy at their masterful poems
Wondering still where their talent comes from
I seek deep inside me to find peace and calm
To write and write and write some more
And write until my lines are adored
And plastered all over the bedroom walls
Of those who wonder and answer the writer’s call
