Words Flow Like 'Ebonics' Poem by Gregory (gshaw57) Upshaw

Words Flow Like 'Ebonics'

Words flow like Ebonics
You know, you know
That beat popping
Rhythmic sound of the ghetto—

Cognitive thought
Verbalize within the heartbeat
Of the city
Children voices-echoes
Sounds of spoken-word—

Our thoughts
Implanted in oral history—
History of revolutionaries
Freedom speakers
Breaking down cultural barriers—

Words flow like Ebonics
You know, you know
Gangster rappers-street talkers
Translating the agony of the city—

City slum dwellers
Seeking voices of advocacy
For the representation of diplomacy
Words of armor will protect thee—

So in the end
Remember this
Street talking-gangster rapping
Weapons of revolutionary thought
Created vices to be taught—

Words flow like Ebonics
You know, you know!
