Why do people lie
And say they’re happy
When really inside
They’re collapsing.

Why do people
And let the lies build
In the meanwhile
They are shattering.

Why are we living in a world of masks?
Hiding behind this one or that.
Hidden behind another mask.
Afraid to show who we really are.
Some, braver those should be the stars.
So why are we living in a world of masks?

The masks save us from who we don’t want to be
They shield us from the reality
They protect us so people can’t see
That most are more than they seem.

Can’t people see the lies?
Can’t they tell what’s really inside?
I guess it’s just hard to resist
And now we don’t even notice it.
Living in a world of masks.
