Worship Poem by Julie A Smith

Worship

Enter into a holy place
with a heart of devotion
and a love of praise.
The drum beats,
the guitar chord echoes,
and a melody
fills the air
as I hear the harmony.
Beautiful
uplifting
happy
and sweet,
the sound of worshipers
fills the air.
A deep longing
for the deeper things
crescendos
in a chorus
of passion
and excitement.

Modern times
surround me,
but I ponder
Biblical days
of old.
Jericho's walls seemed
mighty,
yet God called
His people
to win the victory
through praise.
Utterly foolish
in the world's eyes,
yet utterly beautiful
in my own.

Sometimes God's plans
may not seem to always make sense
in the natural,
but I'm learning to have faith
in what I cannot see.
God's heart for worship
and His love and care for His children
inspires me and encourages me,
and I earnestly desire
to worship Him.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this poem on Sunday night 9/15/13 during a worship night at my church. I love praise and worship and always feel so close to God when I am worshiping Him.
