Would You Poem by priscah Mutswenje

Would You

When I realised that you can choose what to do
When I learned that you can be what you want to be
when I noted that it's about you and now them
That is the time I walked without looking back
the time I ran without turning to check on past
the time I sung 'Nothing stops me, Nothing can'
It is the time I danced and chanced rife and life

Maybe some thought I was possessed
Or still disposed from reality and sanity
Others mocked the race in songs and words
Behind my back they mumbled and murmured
Hoping I would shift in my seat and listen
Or pick a quarrel again as I used to
Or complain to an hear ready to listen

Nothing suited me in those alternatives
I guarded my pride, was guided by inner motives
the goal to champion and instill courage
The desire to jump high and touch the sky
massaged my bones and caressed my inside
Pushing me to start, and go for it
Pressing me to pin and pick and peel
It was as it will be...

I wish I had time for the tale
Or an audience to whom to tell
Maybe a platform to raise
And pour my heart out in days
Days to come

Would you listen
Would You comment
Would you share
Would you?
