Wounded Nightingale Poem by Aliw Mismanos

Wounded Nightingale

I used to sing a sweet lullabye
Unending love, no goodbye
Confident and soaring high
I am but a happy nightingale.

Loveliest memories at bay
Such moments of glorious day
Tucked deep inside my big heart
Keeping faith we will never part.

A sudden lightning strike
It hits me hard like spikes
Rain and tears dripping
On my face like no stopping...

Dark sky abruptly burst open
A hard driving rain stung my skin
This time silhouettes of dark reveries
Occured painly in my waking days...

Im watching stars outside my window
Sitting on the side hugging my pillow
When will all these struggles mellow
I gently whisper full of sorrow...

I made a statement in front of God
I'll let Him be the measure of my life
Judge the right and wrong of me
I won't fightback with mortals like me.

I have loved someone the reason of all
Why i was stoned, bombardedand all
Now im tired, in Him i surrender our fate
Because i am now but a wounded nightingale.
