Wozza Poem by Francis Duggan

Wozza

The fellow who calls himself Wozza his name is on the toilet wall
Immortal till the toilet is painted in a year or so if that at all
He must feel a lack of recognition for to put his name in such a place
Perhaps he's a local teenager and locally a well known face.

By scrawling his name on the wall of the urinal of his existence he wishes me to know
Though it would be fair to say around such a practice a legend it never does grow
At times we all do need attention and Wozza he too has that need
Though his name displayed on the lavatory to great things for him will not lead.

I just dropped in here for a piddle and on the wall see Wozza's name
I can't say I've ever heard of him is this his only claim to fame?
To do this he has to be starved of attention since he'll never know any renown
By scribbling his name on the white washed wall of the urinal in the park of this quiet Country Town

I just dropped in here to do something natural and on the wall above the urinal I see
The name of one I have not heard tell of at least he's a stranger to me
When the painters will come for to paint the toilet the name of Wozza will disappear
And he will be gone from my memory and of him I'll never more hear.
