Wrestling Poem by David Thomas

Wrestling

before today,
i'd never wrestled with a girl
the way i do with my
younger brother who's actually,
quite larger than i-
i'd never wrestled with a girl
the way i do with my
best friends who're actually,
quite stronger and faster than i-
i'd never wrestled with a girl
the way i do with my
mind which is actually,
quite less green than me-
no i've never fought with a girl for fun
never picked her up
with one arm around her waste
and dropped her on the bed like a wave
and then felt her grapple my back
forcing her joy ontop of mine
but mine was larger-
and i always win my fights
cause no matter how disadavantaged
i always have the element of fun,
i enjoy the hit to the face
the armbar, legbar, full nelson,
yeah... the more you fight back
the more fun i have-
i never knew it could be like that
just like that, with a girl too.
