Write
because the night is over
write because everyone's gone to sleep
Or write because your board
and there's nothing left to do

Write because a crow hanging on the wire outside your window said so
Or write because someone has died
maybe a sunrise kept you awake
so you wrote of its supple rose

Write because she said goodbye
Or write about a city you onced lived in
write about a fantasy you had
or write about a pain you missed
or one that is constantly reminisced

Write because you have to
Or write because it helps you buy booze
write in order to stay sane
Or write about the things you would do
if only there wasn't a prison to contain you

Write so you don't call her
Or write something drunk you think is deceit
just so you can wake up to something awful

Write about your friends mother
When you saw her naked swimming
at age ten

Write about the hooker you fucked
or the one you would have if no guilt
came with it

Write for whatever it takes
Write if your heart is there
Write because you know your dying
Write cause you feel alive
Write for whatever reason
But never write
Because
You feel
You should

Never do anything you
feel you shouldn't
For someone else
For family, friends
Anyone

It will always be half assed
if its not for you as well
And if they want something half assed
then they want you performing
at sub par
alike themselves

There's too many people
who think they know what's best for others

But rarely someone claiming
they know whats best for themselves
