Writing A Poem Poem by Emily Rosey

Writing A Poem

2. Whoever thought writing a poem
Would ever be this hard?
I was waiting for inspiration to come
But then I thought that I’d
Just write a poem about writing a poem
And see if I could get stuff to rhyme
Partly because I’m slightly lazy
And running out of time.
I used to have an art teacher
Who always said to me,
You can never rush creativity Tasha
But then I got a B,
I have a slight problem with time keeping
And didn’t quite complete a part
His response when I confronted him was that
He had to deduct some marks.
The world is full of hypocrites
Who think they all know best

But who’s to say what art is good or not
And what is just a mess.
The world of arts is an odd one
That I would love to understand
Writing, painting, dancing, acting
Playing in a band,
The talented and the slightly odd
All are welcome here
The posh, the hippies, the eccentric and the mad
Listening with a tentative ear.

So this is not a traditional poem
Full of love, lust and devotion
But a bit of a rant about people in general,
Well, at least it involves some emotion.
