Yarmouk Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Yarmouk

Yarmouk

In Yarmouk people die
As they did in ages
(Fights of faiths)
They are of Palestine.

“Palestine? ”
One should ask “Damascus? ”

And then map
History, genocides
And for need taking sides
Self-killing; inter-fights

Flies thought…

In distant
History: “Abraham had two sons.”
“And who was Abraham? Where from? ”

Slip in his two wives
Hagar and, sister-wife “Beauty named Sara.”

She?
VIP of Palace?
And the cause of plaque?
“Why to lie? ” Pharaoh asked.
Siblings, for money; and their lives
(Possibly) : had not said “We’re married.”

Same woman set mortar
And crushed and caused pain.

Then the Jews, slandered everywhere
God cursed them,
Babylon, the Romans
Till Esther; then Cyrus
Then expelled of Spain

Then return…genocide; until now (forever?)
The Turkish Ministers in Tehran
Everyone’s black-shoed, all shining…and the hearts?
