Yesterday Poem by Alice Mearns Honey

Yesterday

Rating: 1.5

I went to the woods every chance I could
Cause I had a special friend like all kids should. We didn't have toys and were too young for boys,
so we played in the woods and in the stream,
and sometimes the critters would make us scream. Then we giggled and laughed and did it again and again,
Thinking back is like yesterday, not way back then. You see my special cousin lived where I loved to go,
And no one will believe it, but her name was little Mary Flo. I've never forgotten the fun we had,
To have her as my cousin and friend makes me real glad. We're not young any more and don't play in the stream
where those old critters were always making us scream. But old or young there's nothing that says,
We can't remember and dream.
