Yesterday No More Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Yesterday No More

Yesterday No More

remnants of yesterday

unraveled cob webs

fly and wreck inside the head

of energy lost to waste

for a memory is never the same

the avenues reroute

and rumble as thunder

or play a favorite tune

lost memento's of the wonder years

where love opened as a rose

and the dew lay moist, on morning's light

valuable morsels to savor, til death

secrets held dearly, separated by a Vail

now cold ashes of fires, embers gone like smoke

telltale traces of once upon a time

for your reflections of then are different than mine

the visions fade with age and hide in the horizon

like the song of your heart, inbetween beats

the melody of your life shines in your mind

a treasure chest that only you own

the key holder until death calls you home.
