despair upon you like a cloak.
Loneliness consuming you,
your life just one big joke.

Bills may loom mountainous,
rent is well past overdue.
You can't afford to shop this week,
don't know what you can do.

You've lost faith in yourself,
life moving without direction.
No sign of friends or loved ones,
no warmth, kinship or affection.

Your body may now be broken,
long hard years have had their toll.
This may be your body's last journey,
though not the last one for your soul.
