You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings, O God! Poem by Dr John Celes

You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings, O God!

You are the wind beneath my wings, O God!
I soar up higher only if You say;
My strength alone cannot suffice, O Lord!
You have to dawn on earth, each special day.

You are the air within my lungs, I breathe!
Without the air, I suffocate to death;
When angry, I begin to pant and seethe;
But You provide the air I need from birth.

You are the strength within my fleshy will –
The feelings that my heart outpours with love –
The love that keeps me living content still,
And comes so freely from Your place above!

You are the life within my weary frame –
That came from You sans conditions or fee –
The life You breathed while calling my sweet name;
From special clay as You had moulded me!

You are the spark that triggers my desires,
And goads me on to greater heights and feats;
You are my conscience that never tires –
The Holy Spirit that devils defeats.

You are the grace that purifies my soul!
My sinfulness is kept always at bay;
You help me keep my road to heaven’s goal,
Like sheep behind Good Shepherd leading way.
