You May Think You Are Poem by Francis Duggan

You May Think You Are

You may think you are perfect that you cannot do wrong
But perfection to anyone I feel does not belong
You often hear one referred to as a living saint
But she or he you well may find is not completely free of taint
But some more perfect than others as always is the case
And the fair go do embrace a fair go for all people of every clan and race
In the minds of the fair minded for such there is a place
You may think you are perfect which only goes to show
That you do have a big ego with a fair way to go
To anywhere near to perfection for in the egotistical kind
Any trace of perfection you are not likely to find
You may think you are perfect though thought often deceive
Though it has often been said our own thoughts we believe.
