You Told Me

You told me that you loved me,
That I was the one for you.
You told me that you loved me,
And to me you would always be true.

You told me that you loved me
I packed my bags and went to sea
You told me that you loved me,
Just seemed to me as it should be

You told me that you loved me,
But t'was another you were eyeing
You told me that you loved me,
And you left me with a sting.

You told me you couldn't marry me,
And 'cause of you I nearly died.
You told me that you loved me,
But now I know you lied.
