You Want To Escape Poem by Linda Barnes

You Want To Escape

Reaching out to you
Wanting to hold your hand
You don't respond
Should this be a clue?

Laying in bed
Could our love be dead
Wanting to intertwine
What is on your mind?

Wanting to stroke your hair
My hand is stopped in mid-air
Asking not to be bothered
As my soul seeks to recover

Needing to be embraced
Yet not wanting to be chased
Knowing I cannot complain
As you show your disdain

Tell me the truth
Am I no longer for you
Wishing to be loved
From a man I have adored

I feel you slipping away
Helpless to make you stay
Wanting to fight to keep
Love you want to escape
