You were always the one who caught me when I fell
Always the one I could kiss and tell
All my secrets old and new
You never once judged me
But I ended up judgeing you.

You were always the one that held me tight
Took me through the darkest terrors of night
Wiped the sweat and nursed my wounds
Even when I was screaming and wrecking the room.

You were always the one that kept me sane
Always the one that eased the pain
Always the one that wiped my tears
Always the one who stood by me for years.

You were always the one that held me up high
When others brought me to my knees
You were always the one who’s soul touched mine
Like a soft warm summer breeze.

You were always the one that when I was weary
Gave me the strength to survive
You were always the one who made me not feel dead
But only ever alive.

I thank you for all you did as we now go our separate ways
But one thing I would like you to know
In my heart you will always stay.
And I don’t think I will find another
Who was as very special as you
You were my friend, my lover
