You Will Find Rednecks Like Me Everywhere Poem by Francis Duggan

You Will Find Rednecks Like Me Everywhere

You will find rednecks like me everywhere amongst every race and creed
We are not on the endangered list as we are not a rare breed
I too have done what rednecks do with chainsaws I have cut trees down
And made homeless animals and birds my claim to ill renown
That we dislike in others what we dislike in ourselves does obviuosly seem clear
The loud chainsaws of extinction in my nightmares I do hear
Than using chainsaws for a living better occupations one can name
That I am an ex tree feller is to my eternal shame
My life as a chainsaw woodman I'm not happy to recall
That I've left many creatures homeless I don't feel proud of at all
That some become wealthy from taking from Nature is seen as an okay thing
They are no less redneck than I am yet their praises many sing
And I am not the only redneck people like me everywhere
There are millions if not billions in the bigger World out there.
