Young And Old Poem by Francis Duggan

Young And Old

The young man he dreams of a beautiful life
Of beautiful children and a beautiful wife
And the old man he grieves at the loss of a friend
As his own journey through life it is nearing an end
So very different to the aged and the ageing it does seem
The young and ambitious of great things do dream
The young look forward to a long life ahead
Whilst the old feel resigned to be soon with the dead
The old realize few things in life do last
And for their better days they must go to the past
Compared to what they were four decades ago
Their fastest pace nowadays does seem very slow
We've been learning from life before we learned how to crawl
And 'tis surely a young person's World after all.
