Young People May Look On Me Poem by Francis Duggan

Young People May Look On Me

Young people may look on me as an old man
But I want to live for as long as I can
Others have their opinions and that suits me fine
And what they think of me is their business not mine
But the fact of the matter since facts never lie
Is that all air breathing life forms are born to die
But I want to live for as long as I can
And die without pain as a very old man
And to all of you who do read this doggerel
Enjoy life if you can and do live it well
And why worry of the existence of the after-life, God, Heaven or Hell
Since of such the deceased never come back to tell
And though youngster in your eyes I may seem quite old
Age is a relative thing as we are often told.
