Younger Times Poem by Michael Peterson

Younger Times

Remembering from years past can cause laughter and tears
Reminiscing of youth and life itself
Wondering why we did the things we did
From riding bikes, hide & seek to ringing door bells
Doing crazy things from playing school to doing shows in the basement
Making haunted houses to scare each other
Playing games and listening to the radio for hours
Walking around the block talking about the ones we like
The neighbor kids out in the street playing ball
A good game of football or baseball to scatter dodge ball
The fun times we had when we were so young, full of life
Biking to the mall or downtown to spend the little cash we had
Going to the candy store, that was heaven to us
Going to the woods all day with sack lunches
Fishing by the dam, roaming the sewers
Making adventure thru our minds
Nothing could stop us back then
Friends so dear, always there even when fighting
Crying over a lost dog or a cat
Hiding in the basement from the big storm outside
To just hang out on the corner
The simple life we had back then
Always makes you want to go back
To the days of youth and adventures
Missing the days of fun and freedom
Now sitting by a chair writing of such love and loss
Makes you cry for the friends and family gone now
Never forgetting the times that never end
Stories to tell, memories of laughter and tears
Rest in peace my youthful years
I still remember and cherish so much
Our younger years, so precious and so dear
