Your Forbidden Love Poem by Jade Leven

Your Forbidden Love

it was late and you should have been heading home
but there was something you both just had to know
a feeling that shouldn't exist, but you followed it's beckoning call
forbidden love, you found out, has the sweetest taste of all

I know how you felt in that moment, but he's not the one
and when you get the facts lined up, you're just too young

you thought it was early and you had enough time for this
you thought it was all right and you just couldn't resist
later the shame set in and you felt like you could die
if you give him a chance to love you, then you give him a chance to see you cry

I know that you're heart is breaking, because he's not the one
and when you look inside yourself, you don't like what you've done

for the rest of your life, this day will follow you tenaciously
but for now it's just a time bomb ticking while your foot taps anxiously
you know it's wrong, but you did it, so you'll just have to deal
it's just a matter of tears before you realize that's not how you feel

you can't give him your forbidden love without losing yourself
you have to let go or cope with being someone else
you can't give him your forbidden love without surrendering your teenage years
so tell him he can't have your life or cope with your fears

there's no reason to rush, you see
your forbidden love is not meant to be
there's no need to silence your heart's voice
as long as you make the right choice

don't give him a second of
your forbidden love
