Zaph Enath-Paneah- "One To Whom Secrets Are Revealed" (Joseph)

Rating: 5.0

Betrayed and rejected
Loved by his father
Hated by his brothers
Threatened by his dreams of the future
They cast him off
Unknowingly sending him to his dreams
Had they the power of knowing what would be
Would they still have sold him off?
But such is God's wisdom
To hide the future from the heart of man
For if men were to have the power of foresight
To foresee the result of inflicted persecution on their fellow man
What then would become of destiny?
What then would become of hope?

So unto the chains and fetters he went
Bemoaning his fate
Alas even the dreamer could not see what lay a head;
Man living by the present and not the future
But unbeknownst to them
He had sent a man before them
As refuge from the famine
He had sent to ravage the land.
Against their power
He put hatred for him in their hearts
To fulfill his course
To redeem the promise he made to The Faith Man.

Do you not see?
He sends perils on our paths
To steer us to our destiny
He is the future
We are the present
We can but merely follow his plan to get there
He takes us away from comfort
For he knows we can do no good there.
He sent the man into slavery
For the greater course of feeding his people
He sent the people into slavery to form a nation
Though He be making peril come your way now
Do you know what future he is sending you to?

Nice poem, the first stanza reminds me of Joseph when his brothers sold him because his was a favourite to their father, Jacob as we read in Genesis

Hi Lungelo. Yes, the poem is about Joseph. Zaph enath paneah, the title, was the Egyptian name given him by Pharoah after Joseph had interpreted his dream. Warm Regards!

Thank you Hassan, the poem is Biblical and alludes to Joseph the Governor of Egypt at the time. The name Zaph enath peneah or Zaphnathpaaneah is of Egyptian origin. It was the title or name given to Joseph by Pharaoh after his dream was interpreted by. It means giver of life or one to whom secrets are revealed. You can research more on that if you like. I will reflect that in the title. Thank you.
