Zombie Ballet Poem by R K Summers

Zombie Ballet

Faster, faster, twisted on toes and
Broken ankles
Backwards arms and inverted wrists and fingers
Get away from me
Grinding, crunching bones with every movement
Reaching for the sky
Seeking salvation that never comes
Dried up veins and choking arteries
Snapped neck, bloody mouth, weeping wounds
Twitch, twitch, blink, blink

Something hideous, something beautiful
Click, clack, crunch
Bones and skin
Faster
Faster
FASTER!
Get away from me
Get away from me!

Synthetic life in there somewhere
Perhaps, just a flicker
A tremor, a jerking flash
Snarl
Twitch
Blink

I smell you breathing
A playground of disease, infested maggots in fetid meat
Get away from me! ! !

Foul?
Yes.
Gruesome?
Of course.
Rotted crawling stinking wretched monster?
What else can I say?

Apart from
I find it the most beautiful dance
In all the world.
