Zorro Poem by Sana Olivia Hernandez

Zorro

Watching him,
Quick as a fox.
Mexico's hero!

Young, I yell:
'Viva La Rasa! '
After writing my name,
I erase my 's'.

Zorro is epic to me!
So I scratch in a Z.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When I was really little I was convinced that my name started with a 'Z'.

The first ZORRO I experienced was a Walt Disney production in the 1950's I loved it, my favorite TV show of all time. But my Mom did not let me watch it because of the violence - the sword-fighting which I loved for its kinetic energy and still do. But my Dad - Bless him! - intervened and after two weeks without Zorro, we were together again. Isn't it amazing how experiences across the generations can be shared! Me and Zorro back then, You and Zorro today.
