Psa2- For Those Who Haven'T Seen?

First of all, I'd like to say this is a new account of mine.

Okay, I think we I am going about this all wrong.

How would it feel to have 50 people comment on
your poem, saying 'Oh, that's awesome' or
'great imagery'?

All of us would love that, and some of us would
also appreciate some constructive criticism also
in order to remake a poem with higher quality.

It seems like no one is really getting
constructive encouragement or critique
(some don't really need it, and some
really need it) .

The other day, I got my first comment and thought,
'Wow, someone actually read my poem,
the poem I felt so strongly about'

I believe we should all make an effort to read at
least ten poems (time permitting) to the end
and give a comment at the end, whether it be a
'Great job' to 'It was kinda boring' to
'i don't like this particular poem of yours'
with all sincerity and respect,
Because face it, a lot of us want to develop as
poets/writers and would like honest opinions to
understand what appeals to people and how people
react to your words.

I know there are a lot of poets out there and
maybe we can't reach everyone, but I believe it
is important as a writing group to further
the quality of our works.

Talking about quality, I have been skimming
through some poems and found many that bore me,
whether they were honest or not;
also, if the first few lines had not interested me,
I found myself skimming in the first place.

I myself was writing three poems fresh to insert
into the large database of poems today.
Then I realized that I was going about this all
wrong.

Why should you only read about my momentary
thoughts? Why should you stop to read me over
another person.

It's not only the title, but the fact that the
title bears such connection with the poem that
the title should be seen as integrated with the
work itself.

I then realized that there are just too many
shallow poems about generic topics - not most of them,
or maybe not even 10%, but when supply is high, demand goes down.
This excludes poems in different languages and a lot of other poems
which i believe are magnificent in their first drafts.
In order to make this a greater site,
I believe we should all make a significant effort
to turn our first or second draft poems into
individual masterpieces by critique and edit.
Nothing is worse for me when I get done reading
a poem and I feel like I have
learned nothing, experienced nothing, empathized with no one;
it makes me hesitant to view other poems for fear
that I will be disappointed again.

Guys, I am just one person and cannot attempt to
account for the thousands of people on this site,
however there is a desperate need in literature today
for originality and quality.
Creating an original work is difficult,
creating one with high quality (which I won't try to define)
is really difficult, however, this site's
integrity and name is at stake and it will depend
basically on whether people write well or not.
No, not everyone will read this and no not
everyone will agree, however, I am tired of
reading and writing poems with shallow and unfinished quality.
Comment, email, or whatever me and let me know
what you think about my ideas, any questions;
I surely would like to know what poets think
about this.
