My Daughter - Poem by Scott Stanley Davis

When I was a young man, I had a dream of a baby girl, as she was sitting on a couch, with hair that was thick and black as a barbecue rack, it was shoulder length and that was a fact; she was two as I saw her and soon after I learned from her mother that she was expecting another, for we already had a son and that was her brother; So I prayed a prayer that day that she would be like my mother someday, as I idolized my mother and hoped she would be just like her; We named her misty as we had ice cream, on a hot summer day and she had been exactly the same. A Dairy Queen treat that became my daughter was really sweet, especially in the heat. As I saw my dream come to pass, I felt it was a forecast, for she was a little brass, but has a lot of class and has surpassed, all I thought could be by contrast. When I was in trouble she helped me like no one other, as she honored her father just like Moses and his brother; and I recovered; We all suffer and that is a fact and like our ancestors we have came through the past, and now are counted as the middle-class. I 'd like to summarize it this way, for my prayer God has answered that day, for I idolized my mother and now its my daughter and I dreamed it just that way:
