I Warned Tou - Poem by Jessica DiCola

I warned you.
I asked, begged, threatened, and even destroyed,
But you continue to ignore my warning.

You kill my children for their skin, listening to their screams
You trample my gardens and cut down my trees
You block out my blue eyes with your black fog
You poison the tears I shed out of love for you
And you try to own me.

I whisper into your ear, telling you this is wrong
I flooded the land with my tears as I begged you to stop
I screamed at you, ripping your crops and houses from the land
I blew up in rage at you, burning everything in my path.

But you continue to ignore my warning.
It is your time to suffer as I have,
Death will follow your every step.

I will take your children away from you, never to be seen again
The vines from my gardens will tear down your houses
I shall turn away my beautiful eyes
The tears I shed will be filled with your poison
And I will tear down your walls.

My children will fight you with tooth and claw
Fire will burn through your homes, burning everything in its path
Volcanoes shall explode, pouring like a river of blood
Death will catch up to you, leaving piles of bones and the stench of death
Oceans will be stained red as they clean up the rest
And as you beg me on your knees
I will look down and laugh.
I warned you.
