If life was a dream I could control
Then I would live my life to the very full
I would never be scared to make a mistake
For never would a dream ever be at stake
...

Important decisions are being made in the boardroom today
Who to fire, who to keep
And who to torment with troubled sleep
Who'll survive this none can say
...

numbers
next to names
scores and tallies
on words
...

He looks at himself
to laugh
to revel in his own circumstance
...

I glanced at her as she talked,
Not seeing her words but her eyes
And all that had stayed behind, locked
In our hurried good-byes
...

There was no pain
except the dullness of an empty space
an absence of feeling
a nothingness
...

Let me tell you of a tragedy
in which I lost my self and soul
They would've called it armed robbery
but it wasn't only money I stole
...

I do not feel anything for you now
I have woken up and life has set in
After all this though, it is funny how
I still remember the sun shining off your skin

9.

You love but you have it rejected
Makes you feel empty and dejected
Smile and try your best to fake
Appear as if you feel no heartache
...

The beauty of an apple tree
Only for my eyes to see
Living in my memory
As long as it chose to be

Dreams

If life was a dream I could control
Then I would live my life to the very full
I would never be scared to make a mistake
For never would a dream ever be at stake
I would live and relive my every single fear
Like I never could in the life I had here
And hold forever each moment I held dear

I would live my dreams for years and years
To love and lose and shed no tears!
For each loss would bring a better gain
And if not- then I would live again!
A thousand dreams I wish to live
A thousand lives all mine to give!

So I dreamt away the life I had
Too worried to live, too afraid, too scared
My life was like a candle at night
Which throws deeper shadows than it gives out light
And each dream was a shadow on the wall
Not meaning much for any at all
So when I die you won't remember me
My life, my dreams, my family

And if the candle is not yet lit
Time has slipped and old age must persist
So after I am dead and my body's cold
Most of all, I fear to be told
Now that you're up, how was your dream?
