Rabbi Steven Cardonick Poems

A tsunami of icy water
approaches Boca Raton!

Bloomingdale's shoppers panic
...

A bang from the bank of the river!
...stifled a scream...
started to shiver.
...

(Inspired by the folk singer Sandy Cash)

You may not believe it...
it may seem like a reach...
...

The song and the poetry unfold...
but the story has been foretold.
Kisses and hugs and hearts and flowers....
Imagine the best...and it shall be ours.
...

Sudden downpour!
I dash into a telephone booth.
So does a beautiful woman named Ruth.
Our bodies press close together.
...

God said to Moses,
leader of the Chosen,
'Take these two tablets...
and call me in the morning.'
...

A perfect, cloudless blue sky:
I didn't need an airplane's graffiti
saying that God loves me.
...

To soar above the clouds....
To express our feelings....
Even to have them....
To risk seeing what the journey can bring...
...

Boca Raton Awash

A tsunami of icy water
approaches Boca Raton!

Bloomingdale's shoppers panic
and start to scatter.

Off with heels!
On with flats!

And for once
in the 'mouth of rats'
tongues cease
and teeth begin to chatter.
