The Dog

There was a man
wandering the streets
on his own
with no company at all

No penny in his pocket
just a few cigars and stolen phone
but no one to call
he had no friends no friends at all

One freezy winte night
while the city was asleep
he saw something on the street
a little dirty ball of fur

He came closer
to find out
there was a little puppy
all covered in the mud

He crouched to pick it up
the puppy blinked and sneezed
licked his arm closed its eyes
and quickly fell asleep

Next day he woke up
the street was still wet
but now he was not alone
there was his new pet

Now there is a man and his dog
the wander thru the rain and fog
they suffer from thirst and hunger
but now they have each other
