When I take stock of my gains
And the losses that I had sustained
I find myself as a precarious tightrope walker
With a wobbling pole in my hand.

Like the swift waves breaking on the shore
You rushed into my arms breaking though my doors
Unaware I was swept off my feet
And drenched in feelings marvellous sweet.

I tossed my heart into the sky
It took flight on the wings of delight,
I saw it soar high in its flight
Like a balloon, buoyed by an airy diet.

When you beam a smile, I at once
Reap a rich bouquet of flower weighing in tons
I fathom not the precise reason behind this colorful chemistry
So let it remain in the realm of an unsolved mystery.

Life is like a burning candle
The longer it burns the lesser of it remains
Until we are snuffed out
Into the dark oblivion.

When I see the autumn leaves plucked
And my drooping friends drop one by one
I too would love to be sucked – Into
That unknown voyage from where they have never returned.

I view my weaknesses
With a sense of joy
For I can improve upon them
To create in me a better alloy.

I saw the robin redbreast
Fly out of a tiny nest
It was a small fledgling bird
Set out to conquer its universe.

From here to there but from there to where
My floundering steps were in this snare caught unaware
If I could just know with certitude the path ahead
I would or would not have upon those pathways tread.

The country has lost a glorious son
Loved and adored by millions
He was a fountain of inspiration
A beacon for youth and fledgling children.
