My hands clasped together in thought
To a spiritual answer I had sought.
One day without a prayer
Makes ones living bleak,

I hear the howling no more
Nor do I see the deer play as I did before,
And the bear prints that were once in the snow
Where did they all go;

As time does slowly unfold
Upon school memories we again try to hold,
Now we many are 60 plus years old
As we gather around once again.

Today is my birthday
And I am home all alone,
No "Thank You" for me to say
And no calls upon the phone.

She said that I was funny
I wasn't trying to be,
Then that one hurtful remark
Brought me to my knee.
...

We were just five feet apart
When you first broke my heart,
As I sat at my desk in my chair
At you I had to stare.

I don't wanna argue or fight
From pain I seek no pleasure or delight,
Nor do I want to hit or smite
Or hate someone because of spite.

I own a guitar
But, I can't play a chord,
I can't strum or finger the frets
Now my guitar is put away and stored.

I hear the suffering from the hospital
From those young and old, and large and little,
They didn't take the advice that they were told
Now unto life many are just trying to hold.
...

It is better to make a friend than an enemy
It is better to laugh than it is to cry
It is better to take medicine than a remedy
But who cares, as one day we all will die.
