I surrender to sleep
that one release
from my pain and grief
for even nightmares
...

They don't know I'm dead
They don't see the blood
They think my heart still beats
They ignore the rotting flesh
...

I see my horror in his eyes
Hear my fear in his voice
Yet he boldly shouts what I fear to even think
We face the same struggles
...

I appear silent
I stand in the background
And remain unnoticed
yet I am screaming, shouting
...

How many times have I sat here alone
how many times have I sat weary to the bone
how many times have I searched for hope
how many times have I tried to cope
...

I scare the ones I love
I drive them away while trying
to bring them close
wanting to stop the flow of tears
...

I am afraid
but I don't flee
I am hurt
but I don't stop
...
