Renu Beri Poems

Little birdie in the sky,
Fly, dear birdie, fly.
Fly left and fly right,
In and out of my sight,
...

God, (if you believe in his existence)
Or the Life Particle,
Or Mother Nature,
Created,
...

She walks slowly with gentle motion,
A little pre-occupied, having full notion,
Of the small world that revolves around her,
Of which she is the gracious mother.
...

As I Lay ……..

I lay reclining on my fine ornate bed,
...

Camouflaged in the lush green grass,
Confidently gripping the rifle in his hand,
He spied the widely notorious crocodile,
That seemed to lie peacefully in the sand.
...

I see a large number of walking dead,
Neither down below nor high above.
I see them on earth with heads held high,
Though, long ago, they emitted a last sigh.
...

The dark clouds glided menacingly across the sky,
The light ones accompanying them floated merrily by,
The fleecy babies struggled to keep pace,
And reveal the evanescent sun's glowing grace.
...

Leaning against the window bar,
Looking at the landscape far,
Eyes that looked but did not see,
The clouds, the trees or the blue sea.
...

Standing beneath a gulmohur tree,
The young man looked around him,
Tense and deeply brooding was he,
In the late evening, dark and dim.
...

The lofty, dignified, awesome structure,
Abode of perennial learning and culture,
Overlooking the undulating hills around,
Towering over the spacious green ground.
...

Isolation definitely seems to be
The sole purpose of such as we,
The human race,
That has terrors to face,
...

Bright, colourful, vibrant, joyous,
Are the flowers of St---,
Flitting about in the campus,
Presenting a glorious picture.
...

We read about her in magazines,
We see her on television,
She graces the screen of many a theatre,
Where crowds jostle just to see her.
...

Embossed on the cluttered canvas of my mind
Is a man unknown and seen only once,
Not a famous politician or a popular artist,
Neither a playboy nor a handsome brat,
...

The tiny droplets were welcomed by everyone,
Having come after the long reign of the sun,
A period of exhausting heat, dust and sweat,
How lovely it was to feel the drops wet!
...

A delicate, yellow butterfly
Lingered above the tall, green grass,
Gaily intercepted by a few bushes,
Having tiny, yellow and red flowers.
...

A leaf hung on a large mango tree,
A tiny green leaf, looking downwards.
Bright, fresh and youthful green,
The colour of life, prosperity and love,
...

The sun slid from his heavenly throne
To sleep in the depths of the ocean.
The sky bid him a glorious farewell,
In shades of bright red and golden.
...

A picture hung
A heart sung
Love clung,
And
...

20.

The vessels smashed- crash, clash, clang
The children shouted and loudly sang,
The wife screamed waving her hands,
"You clumsy oaf! How can you stand?

Little Birdie

Little birdie in the sky,
Fly, dear birdie, fly.
Fly left and fly right,
In and out of my sight,
Fly up and fly down,
Or sometimes wheel around.

Little birdie in the sky,
Fly, pretty birdie, fly,
High above the mountain ring,
I can see the birdie king,
A low dive, a high soar,
Sometimes, I see a lot more.

Little birdie, I am too,
A baby birdie, just like you,
Jumping up and hopping down,
At times dancing around,
Can you, dear friend, see me too,
Happy and blessed, just like you.
