THE DEPARTED

Covered, closed and sealed
Fist after fist of moist sand
...

A walk in the rain
Let the drops fall where they may
A walk in the rain
To be soaked to the skin
...

Alone
Under barren trees
That shed leaves like heavenly tears
Undone like strings
...

I die a thousand deaths every day
And regrets come rolling over me
Like waves crashing on jagged reefs
I mourn not the things lost to me
...

Sometimes
There isn't water
In all the oceans and the seas
That can drown
...

Roads taken for escape
Of use no more
Burnt bridges like relics
Stand a stark reminder
...

I stare at the blank page
And wonder where to begin
Since I have run out of words of dismay
My heart gives me ink no more
...

A cage, a dungeon
But not of towers
Or bars that hold
No ball and chains
...

The eyes blazed with fire bright
Hair black as space unknown
Skin smooth like satin touch
In seductive voices she lets her scriptures flow
...

10.

Life ain’t like the dashboard of a car
Gives no warning lights
To tell if things are going wrong
There are roads taken
...

Some Rain

Some rain
some rain for wilted flowers
...

Roads taken for escape
Of use no more
Burnt bridges like relics
Stand a stark reminder
...

13.

I reread the scriptures
Raised my hands to the same sky
My body trembles once again
Of fear that perhaps my supplications would go unanswered
...

To the fallout

I see in the distance skies
How lightning crashes
...

Dark clouds and blizzards
Echoes of silence surrounds
Crystalline water hanging from branches
Evanesce my breath into frozen still air
...

Let it be so
Let it come to your turn
These dark hallucinations of my mind
The hope that your lips burn
...

Lend me your tears
For I have none left
I was crying the day before
For the dead in Iraq
...

18.

Only when on my knees
I saw how far I had fallen
The azure skies above me
Bereft of clouds of shelter
...

My eyes wander
Over every face that I see
So that I may catch some resemblance of you
I breathe in the air
...

The thing about
Being through hell and back
You leave a part of you behind
You bring a part of hell with you
...

The Departed

THE DEPARTED

Covered, closed and sealed
Fist after fist of moist sand
Laid to rest
The walk back now for the living
A drive to return to an empty abode
Wouldn't it be so much better to also bury the memories behind
Carry on now i must, and still be near the places where we used to dwell
Incomplete, left to repeat a single wish
If only you had taken me with you
My eyes stray on the barren shelves
Where you kept your clothes
Residues of your perfume still linger in the air
The very scents that stirred my lusts for so long
Now make it so hard to breath
i must wake still, every morning and pretend to be alive
Though, i know i went in that grave much before you
What remains now is a quest
To seek answers for infinite questions that are left for me
All of them beginning with 'why'
The finality of it all, this surcease
Becomes too much to bear
My heart beats on my chest like a hammer on a condemned wall
And when i can take no more, i fall to my knees and cry
Sob tears that rise from an abyss
Very deep inside
For the love lost to me
The warm embraces now cold as artic snow
The kisses owed but never collected
The words that i felt but left unsaid
Maybe you're in a better place now
Better than this living, breathing hell
That caves in around me
Maybe you're happy now
Or maybe, simply, this is what i deserved all along
So now that you're with others i see
Everyone else but me
I'm taken back in that cemetery
To a cold dark corner, tranquil in perpetual shadow
Far away and sequestered
On a little piece of hallowed ground
Where broken hearts are buried

Rizwan Saleem Quotes

The vultures of failure are always hungry.

When everything is lost. The word hope is a curse, Darkness so complete that your eyes are blind. The tears have dried up and the salt is gone from your body. Finger nails are cracked and broken. It is then you hear the voice say 'I'm still here'. And you will say 'So am I lord, so am I'

Take what ever you are and what ever you have. Then burn it, and in that inferno forge yourself again. Same metal, new sword.... Now fight back for what ever you have lost.
