Robert Hensley Poems

Pine tree why are you so lonely?
Why aren’t you like other trees?
IT seems like your tiny pine needles.
Are always blowing in the breeze.

I left my home in old Caroline.
My friends and that sweetheart of mine.
But something seems to call me back.
To big brown eyes and that old shack.

The Lonely Pine Tree

Pine tree why are you so lonely?
Why aren’t you like other trees?
IT seems like your tiny pine needles.
Are always blowing in the breeze.
You’re always singing a song of sadness.
Every time that I pass by.
You make chills run up my spine.
And you make me want to cry.
I believe that you are more lonely.
On a cold dark winter night.
When the moon goes behind the clouds.
Just a little while before daylight.
I think I know why you’re lonely.
You’re not like any other tree.
And the reason that you are sad.
Is because you’re alone like me.
