Robin Rodriguez Poems

You'd never forget me
Well, I just saw
You did.
...

Some things just aren't
Worth it.
You fight, you cry,
You even get lost in
...

I will always
Be who I am.
What you see is not
What you should expect.
...

Pretty smiles are nothing
And pretty words can
Only lead people astray.
...

Of all the things he could have said,
That popped out instead.
'What? ! ' I cried.
He was surely fried.
...

6.

It wasn't you who worked and studied;
It was me.
You didn't give
Four years of your life
...

I'm defensive;
You're defensive.
We will never agree.
...

Child of the Devil
That I am,
Why am I
As happy as a clam?
...

9.

Life has burned me out,
Though others may not see,
Life passes right on through me.
I might as well not be.
...

Perfect is something I'll never be.
At least to you does that ring true.
You pushed and prodded for the
Best grades of everything.
...

I'm never one to tell the truth;
I'm never one to tell a lie.
I never thought omittance
Would change this.
...

12.

When I look around me,
Al I see is no one,
And all I feel is empty.
Mixtures of light and dark
...

13.

I hope you're not staying,
'Cuz your presence is chafing,
And I know you hope
That to The House I go.
...

Behind every picture perfect family,
There is a picture perfect Hell.
Walls painted so prettily,
Scream in agony
...

Some would say that
I'm ice cold.
Truly, I love as
Deeply as I hate.
...

Knees trembling, hands shaking,
You smiled and the world faded.
Your eyes, so piercing, twinkled
With a mischievous light
...

Oh! Algebra, I cannot count the ways that I hate you!
Is it all your rules and principles?
Or the word problems and the organization of information.
Perhaps it's the way you make me feel,
...

I'm so tired of trying to,
Shine this halo for you
'Cuz I think all of us already know
That I've fallen too far for you to see.

Robin Rodriguez Biography

Some would say that I'm not old enough to have gone through any of this, but my life hasn't been easy. The poems I write are a record of some of the things I've gone through...things I couldn't forget or forgive until I put them down on paper. My strongest emotion is anger, but I also have a sarcastic and very cynical sense of humor. And due to certain circumstances, I am using a pseudonym. Before this, these poems were sitting in my notebook, until my sister found them and kept urging me to let others see them. I put them on here to get a sense of what people's reactions would be to them. I hardly ever take what people say too seriously about me or my work. Comment however you like. Criticism stopped scaring me a long time ago. Enjoy.)

Never Was

You'd never forget me
Well, I just saw
You did.

Now you want me
Back in your arms
Saying you can't live
Without me.

When Hell freezes
Then we'll talk.
Tell me when
Did you ever love me?

You want to know
How I truly feel,
Tell me, do you want
Me to lie to you?

I think you need a
Dose of reality;
I think you need
To face the truth.

You were playing me
False, you were
Never true.

You aren't sad
That I'm leaving;
You're just mad
That I can.

You're guilty of being
Nothing. Nothing but a poor liar.
How could I have stayed with you?
How did I not see?

Everything about you
Screams sleaziness,
And that is still too
Nice a word for you.

So, I'll just take back my life,
Because I can live
Without you here.

Why should I care?
Why should I cry
Over something
That never was?
