Ronald Speight Poems

She says she loves Him
He says well I love you more
She asks Really?
How much more?
...

When I place them in my ear
They become my escape
From the world’s ignorance
Pain, and strife
...

Do I continue or cease
The pressure felt has collapsed
Me the body of a young man
With soul in his mid forties
...

At the foot of my city hall lay stairs to nowhere
My city hall holds flags that have lost meaning
It’s become a place for bureaucrats to lay waste in my city
No open doors for citizens so where do I go
...

In 1776, people died for freedom, liberty, Justice
People say it’s what this country was built on
It’s all a lie this country was built on the very things
The pilgrims wished to leave behind
...

Welcome home, are the words I use to greet a hero
He says thank you but for me this is no home
Only a place of residence he says young and dumb
He fell for a glorified lie leave a boy then
...

My city lay sleeping during the light but comes, alive in the dark
The light brings clairvoyance the dark unexpected feelings
My headphones can’t drown the noise out it only grows
Louder till dawn my city screams for its people
...

My mind is ablaze as I watch aware of my surroundings
Knowing I’ve been before and will return
Same time same reason
Most would call these cycles as if it was special
...

The sun shines in the morning
Giving light to all and vision to most
Warmth to the accepting
A sun so generous as to lend its self
...

11.

Up since 2am, crying since 2am
My tears surreal wishing they weren’t there
I ignore myself I think it’s too much
I’ve lost what little clarity I have
...

Revelations is the end
So what happens in between?
Preparation for the kingdom
Trials of man, errors of man
...

Sequences of words with so many meanings
A different answer to all
Answers that caress the soul and
Lift the spirit
...

Revitalized words become
New almost as a
Rattle to a small child
Liquor to the sober
...

You scream in anger
In a cold empty street
I pass by only
To be disturbed
...

Lining up the barrel to his chest
I wonder what I did to deserve this
All my effort was to provide you
...

I write this with my pupils dilated
A notice for the disease that lurks about
Within me you wreck havoc for no reason
...

A beautiful melody
Flowing from the epicenter
Sounds of glory
Moving ahead
...

They give light to dim corners
Warmth to a cold reality
Watchful eyes over ill-lit paths
...

Ronald Speight Biography

I find poetry to be an escape. When i write these words the problems i write about, seem to fade away. Being recently diagnosed with MS i feel poetry has become far more usefull to me.)

Texts Between Lovers

She says she loves Him
He says well I love you more
She asks Really?
How much more?

He tells her a simple text
Wouldn’t be enough
To express my love for you
All the written poems,
Sonnets, playwrights, etc
Wouldn’t be beautiful
Enough to represent my love

She asks again really?
He says any word spoken isn’t
Grand enough to show my love
I could sing to they end
And still have more to say
It’s not a love that can
Be expressed in a text
It takes a lifetime

She says she feels the same
Just a little bit more and thanks him
For the smile on her face
He says don’t mention it
That’s all want to do love
She says I love you ttyl teddy
So I said I love you too
