The Undefined Girl

A flash.
Just the hint of a smile
Of teeth, nothing more,
But she’s caught me, got me trapped
Under her spell
That she weaves on me
That she wields, unknowingly, it’s unbelievably
Strong. The bonds she binds me in, they’re inescapably,
Wrapped, wrapped around my heart.
I can’t move but for the love.
And oh for the humanity!
But this time not in sorrow but in joy.
Joy in the loving.
And joy in the singing.
And joy for her to be her and for her to always be herself
Because herself
Is who she is
And not who she will be, has been or wants to be.
But damn, it’s good enough for me
It’s like a song.
That follows her and makes my heart sing
To be near her.
Just near her.
To smell her hair
Touch her skin, hear her laugh.
It’s not the knowing of her,
Knowing would kill the magic
To know is to define
To trap, to confine her whole self within a name.
And what’s in a name?
Not her
Not all her, anyway.
She’s gotta stay free
Like the sea
And just be
Who she’s gotta be
‘Cause then
When she’s free
She’s just happy.
And that’s how I want her to be.
Always.
