The Charity Shop
Oh what a wonderful place to browse,
to try on trousers, shirt or blouse.
See books and secondhand magazines,
cutlery, crockery, old sewing machines.
Ties for the neck and pictures for the walls
Football and rugger shirts, bats and balls.
Candlesticks, dishes, saucepans and jugs
Quite a selection of fancy mugs.
Underwear, outerwear, jackets and macs
Old fashioned ornaments, some with cracks,
pillowslips, sheets, blankets galore,
All there to gather, cash for the poor.
I gaze and wonder what tales they could tell
Like this in the corner, a ...
In wintertime we hide our flab
beneath a woolly vest.
But when the sun begins to shine
we want to look our best.
So forget the puds
It's low fat foods for you
