Beyond Me

Beyond me, a fragile world sleeps
It dreams full of ashes, dust, and storms
Beyond me, an open world beckons
A land where good and evil themselves form
To this land they come, to this land they stay,
Possessing all who cower beneath them,
Taunting all with their empty promises and charm,
Inviting all into their open arms.
And in this world, we are forever condemned.

Yet, a single man is all;
All that is needed is one man.
Who removes the dust from the Earth's eternal soul,
Whose will and passion assuredly can
Gain total control of heaven and hell
In a brave new world of his own.

But as I look upon that man's brave new world,
Where the shadows left by toppled rocks purge all light,
Where the blood of Old Haven splashes Heaven and earth,
Where the graves stretch forever into the night,
Where passionate dreams have given way to bitter nightmares,
I think:

Where has this single man gone?

His words spoke of lofty dreams and ideals,
But all that remains are his words of lust.
And now, beyond me, all things great and powerful,
Both diety and man,
Lie in the dust.
