Samantha Viles Poems

I was happy and free once upon a time
But now all I see is a great big line
A line that separated me and my life
Like a cake being cut with a cold knife
...

When I’m lonely or glad
Happy or sad
I walk down to the creek and climb the tall tree.
...

Everyone has dreams
Even if you don’t think that’s true
Everyone has dreams
Dreams about what they want to do.

The Stolen Child

I was happy and free once upon a time
But now all I see is a great big line
A line that separated me and my life
Like a cake being cut with a cold knife

It can never be mended or put back together
Just sitting by its self, now and forever.
That’s how it felt losing all that I had
Losing it all over something terribly bad

Losing my home, losing my friends
I think about that now, until the day ends
Being taken to a place I had never been before
Opening up a really dark door

A door that lead to another world
A world of sadness, sorrow and nothing to do
Just sit and stare and sing a sad tune
Oh I miss my old life even though it was dry and dusty
But this world is definitely rusty

Rusty with happiness, rusty with cheer
Now all I have is a great big tear
I could never have stopped what happened that day
I was at school trying to play

That’s when he came and took me away
Put me on a train that led me to today
I was only young and didn’t understand
But now all I have is one demand

I want my old life back, I want to be free
I want the life that meant a lot more to me
My life up in dry country, the life that I knew
The life that I had something special to do.

But now it is too late, and I can never return
So I have to live with a heart that will continue to burn.
