Sandra Conner Poems

I am a raindrop.
I'm looking for a place to plop.
I'm falling quickly and cannot stop.

I don't know where I'd like to be,
...

Barefoot boy goin' down the road
On his way to the fishin' hole.
Faded overalls and an old straw hat,
'Cross his shoulder a wooden pole.
...

Give me a private hideaway,
Where quiet is amplified,
No harsh intrusions of busy worlds,
Just nature, satisfied.
...

Is it mouses or is it mice?
I've asked this question more than twice.
As I sit before my monitor,
I'm quite sure I am just not sure.
...

Hurry, Tilly, the water's rising;
We must lead all the horses from the barn.
Hurry, Tilly, the water's rising;
Find the cow and calf so they don't come to harm.
...

I found a locket nestled 'neath a tree.
It sparkled, and it twinkle, and it surely winked at me.

It looked forlorn, forgotten, skimmed with dew,
...

A crown,
A diadem,
A shackle placed upon the brow.
...

"What will Christmas bring, Mom? "
"Why, Son, 'twill bring you lots of toys and joys."
"What else will Christmas bring, Mom? "
"Well, fun and games with other girls and boys."

LOVE ON THE LINE

I read about a Navy guy;
'Twas during World War II;
...

I woke to face another day,
No glad expectancy,
For heavy disappointments were all
Weighing down on me.
...

Are you buried deep in sorrow
Over past and hurtful wounds?
Has the weight of your own failures
Left you feeling failure-doomed?
...

I spot him there, behind the barn,
A full-plumed, regal bird.
He looks up, straight into my eyes.
I speak no single word.
...

Ah, Thanksgiving, how I love you!
Golden, crowning jewel of Fall.
Beacon of warmth and camaraderie,
Sending glad invitation to all:
...

I turned to Love and said, 'I must be free.'
And Love said, 'Surely. Take your liberty.'

I asked, 'In truth? You set me free to roam? '
Then Love replied, 'Just please remember home.'
...

When I was a child, I thought as a child,
And snow was a thing so delightful!
From school we were free; we got wet to the knees,
And our mom's day was thrown all off schedule.

The Best Poem Of Sandra Conner

I Am A Raindrop

I am a raindrop.
I'm looking for a place to plop.
I'm falling quickly and cannot stop.

I don't know where I'd like to be,
But I def'nitely don't want to land in the sea.

You see, if I were to land in the sea,
It would be so anti-climactic for me.

I would lose my personal identity;
Even I would no longer recognize me.

No, I must find some place solid instead.
Perhaps on a daisy in a flower bed,

Or a plant so parched it's almost dead,
Or the page of a book that's being read.

I must decide as fast as I can;
I'm falling quickly toward some folks on the sand.

So many are out there just getting a tan.
Hello there, little bald-headed man!

His head sure was tempting, but then a breeze blew,
And drove me off course; what am I to do?

Oh, I see it! I see it! My target's in view!
Get ready! Get ready! I'm landing on you!
Plop!
