The Burning Ghost

It's as if I had awoken from a dream

Everything once desired, lost

A lifeless brain inside of me

An icy core that's trimmed with frost

At times I close my eyes to see

A ghost of you that burns my thoughts

Your voice as calming as the sea

That twists my insides into knots

I reminisce about your laugh

A lovely tune that danced about

You've always been my better half

Your love for me was surged with doubt

But now the years have faded fast

I grasp to every moment shared

Before you left I should've asked

Did you ever know how much I cared?
