My Tryst With Nature

I sat on the railings,
with my two long feet
dangling in the air and
my hands rested on the
elevated surfaces of the railings
and kept my gaze on the
painted trees and mountains,
remembering a gem of the heart,
once so fond but long forgotten.

The wind blows and blows
through the banks and
in its everlasting course,
makes the leaves and trees
sway lazily in tune with it.

The trees, in utter excitement,
receive the wind as if it was
the most honoured friend
and make its babies, the leaves
flutter and dance in the air
as a means of gratitude.

The sparrows, joining in the
celebrations, sit on the trees
and sing little tunes of
love and happiness to the
rich and poor alike, again
make a smooth descent
to nature's middle child,
the neglected earth
to pick little grains of rice
and make an ambitious ascent
to the trees once again
to carry on their unfinished
business with the trees.

The crickets, hidden in sight
but betrayed by the little noises
made in their 'cricketing',
ring and ring on forever and
during night time, when all the
forces of nature have retreated
into their well-deserved sleep,
ring on so loudly; their sounds
shadowing the other equally
lovely sounds of silence.

The cottonseeds float in the air
in swarms, present the air with
shades of white and are jerked
up and down by the wind.
OI! I CAN'T CATCH THEM!
DON't JUST DISSIPATE
THROUGH MY HANDS!

The butterflies, receiving all
the invitations brought by
the wind in the form of scent,
from the plants, flutter and
flutter from flower to flower.

The sun, casting its rays of light
on the teeny-tiny objects
settled on the land far, far away,
unknowingly takes part in the
creation of serene and mysterious
shadow patterns on the humble ground.

If there was a paradise in
the valleys of my heart,
it was here, HERE! , where
the little and faithful followers
of Mother Nature were not
afraid to let their singing voices
enchant the bored and sad flowers,
that grow in my heart's valleys!
